To prepare myself for the graduation project I decided to take an internship with a haute couture fashion label to better understand the design processes and the way of working with the materials.
GHIMELLS was enthusiastic about my story and gave me the opportunity to investigate how to create sustainable clothing. The elaborate study case was then transformed into a design challenge: design a sustainable collection for GHIMELLS for autumn/winter 2016. An amazing opportunity!
I investigated trends for the coming fall/winter by browsing through fashion analysis, collection from famous couture brands and investigated the brand identity of GHIMELLS. Putting all this data together resulted in the ‘Midnight Garden’ collection consisting of five sustainable pieces.
The collection takes you to a mysterious garden with a beautiful night sky where pure white clouds travel long distances due to the soft blow of the wind. Golden leaves fall of the trees, stirring and flying towards the darkness. IN the corner of the garden stands a beautiful flower. The moon has cast its light on the flower’s crimson red appearance as if it knows just how special it is.
The moodboard shows the colors of the AW16 collection: navy blue, charcoal black, crimson red, cream, champagne and rose gold. The palette of colors represents the femininity of the midnight flowers in their dark blue surroundings of the night. Every piece of the Midnight Garden collection is like a midnight flower: beautiful, unique and elegant.
On October 10th, on Durability Day, the Midnight Garden collection will be launched, setting course for a new and durable direction for GHIMELLS.
L’Howelle
The blazer can be worn inside out which makes it the perfect item for a busy day. the material and design are chosen to make it the ideal jacket for outside and the perfect vest inside. It’s casual, it’s chique, it’s the item that fits the busy daily routine of women everywhere.
The blue side has pockets on the outside. If you turn it inside out, the pockets will be on the inside.

Lianthe
The cream coloured blouse is the perfect addition to your closet. It can be worn formal or informal. The round collar and ruffle accents on the front give the blouse a unique personality. You can make the blouse extra festive by adding a bow tie or shawl.

Zaluze
The pantalon can be worn both formal and informal. The high waist accentuates the curves of the woman wearing it. The split at the bottom shows of those gorgeous high heels. There are small details of leather outlining the pockets. The pantalon is beautiful in combination with a body, blouse or blazer.

Alba
The long robe is a combination of a cape and a poncho. The big hoody will protect your beautiful hair from the wind and rain. Adding the belt will give you a totally different silhouette.

Seléna
The dress will show off your feminine side. The lines elongate your body, even when you are wearing flats. The Seléna dress can be combined with high heels, which will make it perfect for special occasions. Combine it with the L’Howelle blazer to create an exquisit pair.

Accessories in this collection are a peace silk bow tie, a peace silk scarf and a fish-leather belt. The belt can be used to accentuate the waist when wearing the cape.
